The Confucius Institute at Assumption University Hosts “Moonlit Mid-Autumn, Blossoms on Paper” to Celebrate the Charm of Chinese Culture through the Mid-Autumn Festival
On September 2, 2026, the Confucius Institute at Assumption University organized a Chinese cultural activity under the theme “Moonlit Mid-Autumn, Blossoms on Paper” at Assumption College Rayong.

The activity aimed to promote students’ understanding of Chinese culture and further strengthen cultural ties between Thailand and China, with approximately 93 students participating
During the activity, students learned about the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), including its history, cultural significance, and important traditions such as moon gazing and enjoying mooncakes. They also explored the values of family reunion and longing for loved ones who are far away, which are central to the cultural meaning of the festival.
In addition, students had the opportunity to experience traditional Chinese art through a Chinese paper-cutting (刻纸) activity. They learned the steps and techniques for creating designs associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival, such as the moon, the Jade Rabbit, and mooncakes, before creating their own artworks in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.
Another activity that attracted considerable interest was traditional Chinese rubbing art (拓印). Students learned the entire process, from applying ink and positioning the paper to tapping the printing surface and carefully lifting the paper, allowing them to experience firsthand the wisdom and artistic heritage embodied in traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
The entire activity was filled with fun and active participation. Students enthusiastically engaged in creating their own artworks, shared their experiences with one another, and took pride in presenting the paper-cutting and rubbing artworks they had created themselves.
This activity not only provided students with an opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and traditional customs through hands-on experiences, but also further sparked their interest in learning the Chinese language and exploring Chinese culture. At the same time, it served as another bridge for fostering friendship and promoting mutual understanding between Thai and Chinese youth. 🇹🇭🤝🇨🇳
